Misskwa stared at the bear splayed out on the floor in front of her. It had taken a few of the stronger warriors the better part of an hour to ride the bear down on ridgebacks then wound it and capture it, bringing it back alive to the cabin in Wealding.
Once there, surrounded by chanting warlocks, she ritually killed the creature with a sharpened stone axe, finding its arteries as the warriors held the bear prone with tough leather ropes around its head, mouth, and legs.
Already splattered with blood, she hacked away at the poor creature's chest until she found the organs she had been looking for. With the still-warm liver and heart in her hands she turned to the stone faced shabooli warrior who lay on the floor of the cabin.
"Your totem is the bear. You will know its strength, you will know its fear. Are you prepared?" she spoke in a hiss, kneeling down so he would hear her over the chanting. The warrior nodded with his eyes affixed on the ceiling.
Raising her hand again, she brought the stone blade down onto the abdomen of the warrior. He winced but did not cry out.
Misskwa turned to the hunters who had been holding down the bear.
"Go out again, we need more. Many more."
